Brooke has only loved one man. Owen's heart is filled with bitterness. Can a mysterious house bring them together for a second chance at love?
In the small town of Smithville, Texas, Brooke Holloway is raising six-year-old Meghan and ten-year-old Spencer on her own two years after her husband's death. Being a single-mom and running the family's local hardware store keep her busy.
While Meghan longs for a daddy, Spencer has threatened to run away if Brooke even goes out on a date. But the last thing on Brooke's mind is falling in love. When a stranger moves to town and buys a house with a mysterious past, Brooke can't contain her curiosity. As she spends time with the new owner, she wonders if maybe God is giving her another chance at happiness.
Owen Saunders fled the big city to start over in a small, rural town famous for baking the world's largest gingerbread man. Then he bought an old house to restore-for all the wrong reasons. If anything needs restoration, it is Owen's heart in the aftermath of his failed marriage. With little hope and lost faith, Owen is tempted by happiness when he meets Brooke, but his heart remains sealed shut.
As they learn more about Owen's house, one thing becomes obvious to both of them: God has put them together for a reason.

A different Amish story, and yet a lot about living your life as Amish. The separation of their Community, and yet the being there for those who are not members.
We experience a lot of good and evil. Katie Bender has suffered a lot of loss in her young life. She has resigned herself to being a teacher, instead of a wife and mother. Then the a tornado destroys her school, along with a lot of their Community.
Seth Stutzman is visiting Hope Falls, he is trying to help his brother-in-law Amos. Seth builds bee hives, but he is also dealing with his demons. Amos is actually shunning his community, and is so bitter.
We find their are evil forces involved, whispering in their ears! Makes you realize where some of those thoughts you personally don't want come from! Especially if you love the Lord.
This book paints these pictures in your mind so that you actually feel like you are part of the battles. We look for Elias, the mighty angel. How lucky they are to have him, he seems to be there when needed.
Will the evil Razzen win? I vote for Elias, but will those hear him and pray?
Loved this book, if you enjoy reading Amish stories, this is a must read.

Silent Night" by Colleen Coble
Silent Night" by Colleen Coble is an epilogue of sorts to Coble’s "Rock Harbor Mysteries Series." I haven’t yet read that series, but recognized the main characters, Bree and Samson, from their appearance in "Tidewater Inn," the first book in Coble’s new series. Though I haven’t read the Rock Harbor series, this novella was a complete story all by itself. I never once felt lost, and, in the few cases when Coble referred to previous stories, she didn’t seem to give anything significant away. I’ll definitely want to go back and read those books someday.
In this very short story, Bree’s sister-in-law comes to visit a few weeks after a young woman goes missing and is presumed to be dead. On the day of Laurie’s arrival, a young man is killed in a parachute accident. While attempting search and rescue, Bree finds Laurie in the woods. As the investigation into the young man’s death reveals a connection to the missing woman, Bree becomes concerned about Laurie’s part in the two events.
I enjoyed reading this story, meeting Bree’s family and friends, and learning the truth about Laurie. If you’ve read the Rock Harbor series, you’ll want to read this novella to see what’s next for Samson and Bree. If you haven’t read the series, you still may enjoy this story. I most definitely did.
I thank Thomas Nelson Publishers for sending a complimentary eCopy for this honest review.

Tidewater Inn By Colleen Coble
Where the sea breeze is fresh, sun sparkles on sand . . . and trouble appears with the force of a hurricane.
Inheriting a beautiful old hotel on the seaward shore of Hope Island could be a dream come true for Libby. The inn cries out for her restorer’s talent and love of history. She’s delighted to learn of family she never knew she had. And the handsome Coast Guard lieutenant she’s met there on the island could definitely be the man of her dreams.
But Libby soon realizes that only way she can afford the upkeep on the inn is to sell it to developers who are stalking the island. The father who willed her the inn has died before she could meet him, and her newfound brothers and sisters are convinced she’s there to steal their birthright. Worst of all, her best friend and business partner has been kidnapped before her eyes, Libby’s under suspicion for the crime, and her handsome lieutenant clearly doubts her innocence.
Libby’s dream-come-true is becoming a nightmare. Can she find her friend and establish her innocence? Must she sell Tidewater Inn and lose her family again? Or can she find a home for her heart on the beautiful shores of Hope Island?
